Meta Pixel vs Conversions API: do you need both to sell tickets?

·5 min read

What the Pixel does

The Meta Pixel is a script on your event page. It tells Meta when someone views your event, adds tickets to the cart, starts checkout, and buys.

Meta uses this to show which ads sold tickets, to build audiences (for example people who viewed your event but didn't buy), and to find more people likely to buy.

That last part is where missing data hurts. If Meta doesn't see a purchase, it can't learn from it.

Where the Pixel loses sales

The Pixel only works if the buyer's browser lets it.

Ad blockers. About 29.5% of internet users worldwide used one in Q2 2025, according to GWI. Many of them block Meta's script too.

Safari. It limits cookies set by scripts to 7 days. A buyer who clicks your ad and buys a week later may not be linked back to that ad.

Closed tabs. Payment happens on Stripe's checkout page, and the Pixel only records the purchase when the buyer comes back to Reyze. If they close the tab after paying, or their connection drops, the purchase is never sent.

What the Conversions API changes

With the Conversions API, Reyze's server sends the purchase to Meta as soon as Stripe confirms the payment. The buyer's browser isn't involved.

Meta recommends using it together with the Pixel, not instead of it. The Pixel still covers page views and the cart. The server makes sure purchases arrive.

Meta's own numbers from April 2026: advertisers using the Conversions API had 17.8% lower cost per result on average than those without it. That is Meta comparing accounts, not an independent test, so treat it as a signal, not a promise.

The server event also includes hashed buyer details like email and country. That helps Meta match the purchase to the person who saw your ad.

How a purchase reaches Meta

Pixel

Buyer pays on Stripe→Returns to Reyze→Meta

Lost if the script is blocked or the tab is closed.

Conversions API

Stripe confirms payment→Reyze server→Meta

Arrives no matter what happens in the browser.

Same event ID on both, so Meta counts the purchase once.

Does every sale get counted twice?

No. The browser and server events carry the same event ID. Meta keeps the first one that arrives and drops the other, as long as they arrive within 48 hours of each other. Reyze sets the ID for you.

Consent still applies

Sending events from a server doesn't skip consent. EU rules cover tracking pixels, and the server event still uses the cookie Meta set in the browser.

On Reyze, if a buyer declines marketing cookies, neither the Pixel nor the server sends their purchase. The Conversions API recovers sales lost to blockers and closed tabs, not buyers who said no.

Reyze already has both built in

Both the Meta Pixel and the Conversions API are already part of Reyze. You don't install anything. You just paste two values:

1. In the dashboard, go to Settings, then Tracking.

2. Paste your Meta Pixel ID.

3. In Meta Events Manager, open your pixel's Conversions API settings and generate an access token.

4. Paste the token into Reyze.

That's it. Reyze sends the browser events, sends purchases from the server, and handles double counting. You can check in Events Manager that purchases arrive from both the browser and the server.

Bottom line

Use both. They are already built into Reyze, so all you need is your Pixel ID and an access token.

Every purchase Meta sees is one more it can learn from, and that makes your ads work better.
